that's right, i said box. i'm normally as outside the box as they get, but my most recent sampling from the fruit of the vine was dare-i-say...boxed. I have been enjoying one box each of a red and a white from the black box wine collection. for my red, i chose the cabernet sauvignon--so good to very last red drop. for my white, the always enjoyable pinot grigio--an agreeable white for any wine palette.
the belief of boxed wine inferiority is a common, but quickly vanishing, urban vinal legend. these wines, as with any, can be an absolutely fabulous value, or every bit as shi*#y as the price leads us to believe. my experience with the black box, is that it is good! at $20 per box, you certainly can do well for less, but it would be a challenge. (please remind yourself, this is only five dollars U.S. per bottle) boxed wines are easy to handle, pack, carry, and travel; convenient in use (think about cooking here, as well as drinking); supposedly last up to a month after opening (i say supposedly, because none has ever lasted this long in my house); and did i mention the economical stand point??? unless you are the type of wine snob currently being payed to be a wine snob, the box is worth your consideration.
